The Sacred Journey

What is it, and what does it mean for a coaching client?

When something isn’t working in your life or something is in the way (call it a roadblock, speed bump, a wall, or simply pain), it’s a sign that it’s time to pay attention and tune in. The Sacred Journey is a way to connect to what you need to move forward with wholeness and courage.

The Sacred Journey is how we describe all of the healing practices and outcomes you might embrace as you work to understand yourself and your story. The sacred encompasses your connection to yourself, to others, and to something beyond yourself, whether you call that God, a higher power, the beloved, or the divine. Rebuilding or deepening those connections can involve a combination of embodiment practices, art practices, and your emotional or spiritual path. These practices can include:

  • Journaling

  • Meditation and breathwork

  • Movement like dancing and yoga

  • Experiential art-making like collaging and painting

  • Group gatherings like JourneyCircles™

The Sacred Journey invites you to travel in any shape or form, to use experiential art making as a source of awareness and possibility, and to honor and explore any information birthed in the process.

There is no single path on the Sacred Journey — everyone’s journey looks different. Each client may need or resonate with different modalities and practices to understand their own story. This is one of the core reasons why I became a coach: I found the a diverse set of tools to help me heal and know myself, and I want to help others do the same on their Sacred Journey. As a Sacred Journey guide, I introduce you to a variety of tools to determine which will help you experience wholeness and will come alongside as a companion to witness your healing journey.

The Sacred Journey in Practice

These are two completely fictional clients. We describe their journeys and experiences as an example of how different the Sacred Journey can look for everyone.

Alice

Alice is going through a major transition in her life. She’s been feeling lonely and stuck, and wants to reconnect to herself. Over the course of ten coaching sessions, we explore the transition through experiential art-making especially through collaging and journaling. Then, we discuss what these practices revealed about her story and the invitations she has with the transition we explored. Even after we finish our sessions together, she continues these practices as ways of moving through life to continue to cultivate healing, acceptance and freedom.

Elsa

Elsa feels the weight of busyness in her life and feels less connected to the Divine than she has in the past. She wants to slow down and spend time understanding the parts of herself she has neglected by setting aside her needs in the fullness of life. Across six coaching sessions, we focus on embodiment practices like yoga and breathwork, as well as engaging with expressive art. She attends several group workshops to connect not just to herself but to others on a similar journey.

Everyone’s Journey is different

The beauty of the Sacred Journey is that everyone’s journey is different. The role of the coach is to surface the right tools, facilitate practices that will help uncover their story, and witness their journey as a companion and guide.

If you want to connect to your story and are looking for a guide and companion along your Sacred Journey, I would love to talk with you.

Mythos Journey work

Using stories from the mythical world provide a valuable entry point to connecting with your story.  By traveling in the imaginal we expand awareness, shift energy and enhance day to day life. It fosters restorative healing and activates ancestral remembering that can expand the way you walk in this world.
